Egte Plaaslekker Boerewors 500g
Description
Boerewors literally translates as "Farmers Sausage" (English pronunciation "boo-ra-vors").
Boerewors a type of sausage which originated in South Africa, is an important part of South African cuisine and is popular across Southern Africa. The name is derived from the Afrikaans/Dutch words boer ("farmer") and wors ("sausage").
Boerewors is made from coarsely minced beef (sometimes combined with minced pork, lamb, or both) and spices (usually toasted coriander seed, black pepper, nutmeg, cloves and allspice). Like many other forms of sausage, boerewors contains a high proportion of fat, and is preserved with salt and vinegar, and packed in sausage casings. Traditional boerewors is usually formed into a continuous spiral and we sell it in that form (as illustrated). Boerewors is often served with pap which is a traditional South African porridge made from mielie-meal (maize meal) and covered with a tomato and onion sauce (see Maize Meal and Tomato & Onion)
